The Guardian of Patzún

Introduction:

When I first arrived in Patzún, my host sister took me on a tour of the town's most popular places. She guided me through the town square, which includes the municipality (where the mayor's office is located and where essential services like water and electricity are managed), the town market and the Catholic church. Afterward, she led me on a walk up a steep hill to a tree and told me one of the most fascinating stories I would come to hear.

What does this creature or plant look like?:

If you were to ask anyone in town, you would hear many different descriptions of this historical tree. When I asked my friend Cindy, she described el Cipresalon as tall with a thick trunk and quite old. She mentioned its roots are very thick and often are mistaken for branches! When I asked another friend, Lily, she described el Cipresalon as a magical tree in Patzún, saying it's always green and leafy no matter what time of the year it is. When I asked another friend, Marta, she described the tree as mysterious looking. It will be up to you to decide how it looks to you.

How did I feel when I saw it?:

Every time I pass by el Cipresalon, it gives me a sense of mystery, similar to what Marta experienced when she tried to describe it.
