We went through a dry spell in Ourense for most of September and the first part of October, which meant that temperatures were slightly higher than usual for this time of year. Last week, it was sunny almost every day and the temperatures were in the 70s. The average for this time of year is right around 70 degrees, but the temperature reached 81 degrees on Saturday, October 12th. The very next day, however, the temperature dropped, and we received almost two inches of rain between Sunday and Monday. The temperature on Sunday the 13th and Monday the 14th was around 60 degrees.
Because Ourense has over 100,000 people and I live right in the center of the city, I usually don't see many animals aside from a lot of pigeons, a few other bird species and the occassional squirrel in one of the city parks. Galicia is known to have wild boars in its forests, however, so I hope I am able to see one the next time I go hiking!
