A Deep Dive into the Flat Lands of Schleswig-Holstein!

This is actually very important to making sure that the air stays nice in your home, and while it's a bit chilly, this practice is actually helpful in preventing mold in your home!

How have people been adapting to this environment?:

Despite the rain and clouds here in Kiel, people living here have actually been ranked for years as the happiest in all of Germany! While we don't have the mountains of Bavaria, or the gigantic industry (and accompanying wealth) of some of the more southern regions, we manage to be the happiest! I think this mainly due to the character of people here...  we (and I say we because I think I have started to adopt some of these outlooks, too) have a huge amount of gratitude for sunny days and have found ways to make the winter a bit less rough by prioritizing time with good friends and cozy gatherings. There is a real sense here that what makes a day nice is not the weather, but the people with whom you spend it! In addition, the city holds many festivities, including a 'light festival' that make the short hours of sunlight more bearable.  My friend and I attended a light festival a few weeks ago! It is also common for German children to participate in what is known as "lantern walks", or little parades where everyone carries a lantern! People herein Schleswig-Holstein definitely make the most of the little sunlight here and manage to have fun with the dark, too!
