Being in London has opened up my mind to so many experiences, especially trying new foods. I'm excited to share my culinary adventures with you.
The craziest food I have tried while abroad is... snail! Yes, snail. I had the luxury of eating snail on my recent trip to Paris. Guess what? It was delicious!
Before trying snail, or as the French people would say, l'escargot, I was very skeptical about trying snail because I thought it would taste awful. Growing up, I always heard about people eating snail, and I thought it was the weirdest thing! However, while trying it I felt so cultured... in other words, I felt as though I were truly learning about another culture by trying one of its most famous foods. The snail dish was very tasty, and I actually wanted more of it. After eating it I was still hungry, because the snails are very small and not that filling.
The food was prepared with a lot of butter and garlic. I think these two ingredients had a lot to do with how good the food tasted. The butter and garlic gave it a savory soft taste, which made it seem more appetizing. The food was presented on a little platter with the snails still in their shells.
