Hallo! Hello!
My name is Elizabeth Sun. I’m 23 years old and although I was born in Seattle, Washington, my family now lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I went to college at Pomona College in Claremont, California, where I studied French and was really interested in the European Union. I actually wrote my senior thesis about the complex history of the French-German border.
Last year I taught English in France, which was a great opportunity to work on my French and learn more about how education changes from place to place. However, I was still very passionate about German and wanted to keep learning about the language and the country. I was fortunate to be accepted for a Fulbright scholarship to look more at the French-German border, specifically a language policy in one of the regions in Germany aiming to inspire more students to choose to learn French.
So this year I’ll be living in Saarbrücken, Germany. I’ll be right next to France and Luxembourg as well! I can’t wait to hear French and German in the same place and to practice both! I’ll be taking classes on border studies at the university here and will begin preparing my research questions soon. I’m excited to hear from you all and to share my experiences with you!
