A Day in the Life

Introduction:

My host mom is a funny and hard working woman. Whenever I come back from school, I love to watch her cooking and tending to her daily chores. In many ways she’s similar to my my own mom, as they both love to make jokes and goof around. They are also both extremely devoted to their kids and family. My host mom does everything in her power to make sure everyone in the house is comfortable and feeling their best. Representing her colorful Ghanaian culture is also very important to her and she expresses it through clothing, dance, music, and, best of all–   food!

What is your full name?:

”My full name is Veronica Lolonyo Kumordzie. I am an Ewe and from Keta, Ghana. It is a small town in the western region known as the Volta region.”

Where do you live? What is your house like?:

“I live in East Legon in a nicely sized home with my husband and two sons. There are three parts to our home. There is the main building where the kitchen and living room area are located, as well as my room. Right next to this building is a smaller section where our housekeeper Fausi and my niece Madoa sleep. This is also where my students stay when they come to Ghana. My two sons Leslie and Oliver live in the upper loft of the house. It is very spacious for them and it is good for them to have their own corner of the home.
