This week, I bring you along on a tour of the colorful Orthodox Monastery and try beef stomach soup in the Bulgarian mountains! We also get to learn about a Communist spy museum in Albania!
Hi, I'm Julia, and I'm a Fulbright Scholar studying peace, development and security in the Eastern European country of Serbia. What can Serbia teach us about peace and getting along? Let's find out!

I explored peacebuilding in Serbia and the Western Balkans, sharing lessons on empathy, understanding, and stepping out of comfort zones. I hoped I inspired others to travel, learn, and grow!
A core lesson in our Exploring Peace journey is to build empathy and learn from not only our own history, but also that of other countries. By traveling, we can do both – which is why I'm in Serbia!
Join explorer and Fulbright U.S. Student Program grantee Julia as she explains her studies in Serbia and the intersection of peace, security and human rights in Eastern Europe.
