One of the most famous Serbian specialties is certainly the Karađorđeva šnicla. This dish can be found in almost every restaurant in Serbia, and the story of how it was created is very interesting.

The chef Milovan Mića Stojanović worked in a restaurant and got an order from a famous TV show host. She wanted to order a chicken cutlet, but at that moment chef Mića did not have the right ingredients for that dish. However, he did not want to disappoint his famous guest! So, he had to come up with a new food quickly.

He took a thin piece of meat, filled it with kajmak (local soft, white cheese), rolled it like a crepe, baked and fried it. The guests loved the dish! Soon, it was put on the restaurant's menu, and now one of the country's most popular dishes!

How do you make this delicious dish? First, take a piece of meat or pork and beat it until it's very thin. Then add kajmak (you can substitute this for cream cheese or your favorite type of cheese) and spread it over the meat. Roll the meat like a wrap and dip it in flour, then in beaten eggs, and finally in breadcrumbs. Fry the meat in oil until the whole thing is a light brown color.
