Travel News

How did I get around this week?:

We get around using various forms of vehicular transport. In Texas, the majority of families own at least one vehicle (or are paying one off). Many of our friends and neighbors have more than one vehicle, and in some cases teenagers are responsible for their own cars and trucks, although the cost of insuring teenage drivers is considerably higher than average.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

This week I visited San Antonio, a city five hours away from my home in Forney. My brother attends the University of Texas at Austin and is on their rock climbing team, which was meeting in San Antonio this week. San Antonio offers many points of interest, such as a huge riverwalk, the Civil War battlegrounds, The Alamo and the largest zoo in Texas! There is also a large courtyard in San Antonio surrounded by many elegant restaurants, with a large fountain in the center. We celebrated my brother's birthday here in this courtyard, and afterwards we followed the Riverwalk for longer than a mile. San Antonio is a very tourist-friendly location, so I never found myself bored while visiting here. The only problem I encountered on my trip was some very congested roads; a big city like this is bound to have bad traffic.

Overall, I had an excellent time in San Antonio, and I would recommend a visit to anyone who has the chance. There is seemingly something for everyone here!
