How was the weather this week?:

We had rain for 3 days this week. Sunday and Monday were sunny and both days were above 70 degrees Fahrenheit, but a cold front moved in and the temperatures on Tuesday-Friday were below 55 degrees with rain and clouds. By Saturday the temperature rose to 65 degrees and the sun was out again.

What animals did I see this week? :

Typical for this area are squirrels, rabbits, cows, horses and pets such as cats and dogs. Just to the east of Forney is a stretch of excellent pasture land, and quite a few cows and horses are kept in that area. We have a fairly strong duck population in town, and our North Forney High School is named in part after the local red-tailed hawks that are common here.

What was the coolest thing I saw in nature this week?:

The coolest thing I saw in nature this week were cows and horses in ranches by my neighborhood. Forney has a lot of open areas of land with very fertile soil. Before railroads were introduced to the area, Forney’s was almost completely made up of cattle ranching and farming, which can still be seen today.
