I am so excited to talk to you about school in México. The classes, students, and teachers here are very similar to what we see in the United States.

In México, elementary schools are called primarias. They have six grades (K - 5), and kindergarden is called primer grado. This means sexto grado (sixth grade) is just like fifith grade in the U.S. and segundo grado (second grade) is just like first grade.

At Ford 212, students go to school from 8 a.m. in the morning to 1 p.m. in the afternoon. Students are required to wear uniforms, which are suits and dresses. Grades primero to sexto each have one teacher who teaches ALL of their subjects like math, science, social studies and Spanish (Sound familiar to anyone?). For two hours a week, English teachers usually come to the school to teach students English.

Students work really hard for three hours, and then they get 30 minutes for recess and lunch. That time flies by super fast! By 11:30 a.m., they are all back in the classroom ready to learn some more.

One of the biggest differences between Ford 212 and schools in the U.S.A. is that there are way more students in each class.
