Lima is the home of over eight million people, the same population as New York City! Although Lima does not have subways like New York City, there are different buses that can take you anywhere you want to go. Most roads in Lima are paved streets, but there are a few dirt roads too, and these are the bumpiest. There are also many cars on the roads, and sometimes accidents occur because people do not pay attention.
People get around Lima by walking riding scooters, skate boards or bicycles, or by bus or car. Or even by running. The most common ways to get around are by bus, car and on foot. I have had the pleasure of riding the bus and walking. I walk 20 minutes each day from my host family's house in San Isidro to the Universidad del Pacifico. However, If I want to go to Miraflores, the next district over, I have to take the "Big Purple T" a super huge bus. Passengers are packed like sardines itno this bus because it is on a very popular route. On the other hand, the best way to get to Callao is to take a "Microbus" (or smaller bus) due to the roads being more narrow on that route.
