Goodbye, Seoul!

In South Korea, I had to learn to ask for help without fear because it was a matter of survival. I wish everyone could have the opportunity to study or work in foreign country to practice communication and having self-confidence.

If I could give any advice to students like you it would be to take risks, ask for help and never give up. I remember when I was a high school student sometimes I’d feel like giving up because studying was very stressful. If I had asked for help I would have felt less stressed. This is the most important thing I’ve learned while abroad, that it’s never wrong to ask for help. Additionally, I think it’s important to never give up. When I first came to South Korea, I couldn’t even say “Can I have some water?” and now I can order food at a restaurant for all of my friends without stuttering. I had to fail many times until I could speak with confidence and sometimes people would laugh at me but I kept going. Hard work pays off eventually.

I still feel like I have to improve so much but I’m happy I was able to share my progress with you all. It means so much to me that I was able to share my journey with everyone and I loved reading your padlet responses every week. It encouraged me to go out and look for more exciting places in South Korea so I could share my experiences with you all. Coming to South Korea was a wonderful experience but what made it so much better was sharing it with you.
