This week, I haven't traveled too far. My school is just down the road, and all of my errands can be run within my town. During my bike rides, I like to ride outside of town and through surrounding villages. This week I have gone about 50 kilometers, or about 31 miles.
Since arriving in Cambodia in August 2025, I have spent most of my time in three places: Phnom Penh, Takeo Province and Kampong Chnnang Province. So far, I have traveled back and forth between these places, and soon, I hope to travel to more places in Cambodia!
Starting off, I travelled 80 km (50 miles) south from Phnom Penh (the capital of Cambodia) to Takeo Province for ten weeks of training. After training, I travelled from Takeo back to Phnom Penh. In the capital, I swore-in to become an official Peace Corps volunteer, and then I travelled to my new home in Kampong Chnanng Province. The distance from Phnom Penh to Kampong Chnnang is about 90 km (56 miles) north. Since living in Kampong Chnnang Province, I have traveled to and from Phnom Penh two separate times.
From my province, it takes about an hour and a half to two hours to get inside the capital city, depending on traffic. I enjoy visiting Phnom Penh because there are many busy markets, important historical sites and a wide variety of restaurants.
