Can you believe it? This is our last journal together! In two weeks, I will be on a plane back to Pennsylvania with more than three months of memories and experiences abroad in Costa Rica. This week, my family even visited me to learn about what my life is like in Costa Rica and escape from the winter weather in the States!
I remember being a freshman in college and learning about the study abroad opportunities at my school, Bucknell University. As a matter of fact, one of the main reasons that I fell in love with Bucknell was their accessibility for students to study abroad. I immediately was drawn to Costa Rica given my intended areas of study: biology, environmental science and Spanish. It was a long journey to get here between the pandemic and travel bans and fitting a semester abroad in with my vigorous course load and requirements. However, I am so glad that I worked towards this, and now that it is coming to an end, I know it is only the beginning of my travels.
The years following your high school graduation are some of the best and easiest years to travel in your life. Whether this is through a gap year, a study abroad through University, or just a way of life, I highly recommend broadening your horizons and stepping out of your comfort zone through global travel.
