Though the main language is English here, you can still hear other languages being spoken by tourists who have come to visit the university. Most of the time it's just English though.
Here, we use the British pound. Most people still prefer to use cash here, unlike in the U.S. where so many people use debit/credit cards. Some cafes and restaurants are actually still cash only, they don't take cards at all!
A bottle of water would cost you around one pound or sometimes even less. Some goods are very cheap here in the U.K., especially ones that are healthy for you such as water.
My best meal this week was when I went to a local cafe and had my favorite British snack - a jacket potato! This is basically a fancy word for a baked potato but here, you can find different types with a variety of toppings. It's a great meal to have on a rainy day when you need to warm up!
