Dear Reach the World Explorers,
As our virtual journey together comes to an end, I want to thank each of you for letting me be part of your classroom these past weeks. Today marks one year and three months since I first arrived in Peru—a moment I’ll never forget. I still remember stepping off the plane into the unknown, feeling a mix of nerves and excitement and wearing a smile that just wouldn’t go away. All of us Peace Corps Volunteers met for the first time in Miami, and the very next day we were off on our big adventure. During our three months of training, we bonded in a way that continues to carry me through my service even now.
My time in Peru has changed me in ways I never expected. I’ve learned to slow down, to listen more deeply, to adapt, and to appreciate the small, everyday moments that make a place feel like home. I’ve discovered strengths I didn’t know I had and have grown in patience, creativity and confidence. And the best part? I still have another year ahead of me—a whole year to see how my life continues to grow, how the community shapes me and how many more lessons Peru has to offer.
