A Little Bit About Me

While in college, it has been very rewarding to think more about aspects of my cultural and religious identity and and to share them with others who want to learn more about me. I am the oldest of six, and so I feel that I have a responsibility to show my younger siblings that if they put their minds to anything, then it's possible. Barnard is historically an all-women's college and is one of Seven Sister schools. The people I have met at my school have taught me so much about self-advocacy and self-care. The experience has been fundamental to my growth as a person.

It was a bit of a wildcard going abroad to study public health, especially since I had not taken any courses related to the subject beforehand. However, I knew I couldn't pass up the opportunity to go abroad. I grew up in the South Bronx and I've lived in New York City my whole life, so traveling has always been something I've wanted to do. I can say that deciding to go abroad has been one of the best decisions that I have made in my time in college! I've learned about the environemental aspects of health, the theories of social determinants of health, and so much more that I am looking forward to sharing with you!
