Hallo (Hello) from Austria! My name is Sabrina and I am currently a senior in college studying abroad in the beautiful and bustling city of Vienna! I was born in the Bronx, where I was raised by my Dominican grandmother. I have so much Bronx pride! I love walking into my neighborhood bodega and being greeted by the man behind the counter with “Prima!” even though we aren’t cousins. Another fond memory that brings me joy is hearing people on the bus shout at the bus driver on the BX2 to open the back door.
Did you know that I am a Hostos alumnus? I graduated from Hostos in 2018 with my high school diploma and associate's degree. I was sitting right where you are sitting just three years ago! For college, I made a big leap and decided to attend Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. I am studying cultural anthropology, which is the study of human societies and their culture. With anthropology, I want to give a voice to people whose voices often go unheard. With only approximately 1,500 students, my school is this small, tight-knit community where everyone knows everyone and you’re constantly running into someone you know. It’s similar to Hostos in that sense.
