In January 2020, four British Royal Navy Submariners became the first ever Royal Navy team (and the fastest military team in history) to row across any ocean. Departing from San Sebastian in La Gomera, Canary Islands, Spain, the team spent 37 days, six hours and 40 minutes battling across more than 3,000 miles of the North Atlantic to reach Nelson's Dockyard on the Caribbean island of Antigua.

Now, in 2022, a new team of four Royal Navy Submariners will set off on the same journey, battling sleep deprivation, scaling 20-foot-tall waves, and collectively rowing more than 1.5 million oar strokes in an effort to beat the crossing time of their peers. At the same time, as they work together to overcome tremendous hardship, their teamwork and persistence will serve as a strong example of resilience in the face of adversity.

Are you ready to meet the crew of HMS Oardacious and cheer them on as they attempt to row across the ocean? From start to finish, this Reach the World virtual exchange will follow this inspirational team and see what it takes to prepare for and accomplish something this bold. Climb aboard!
