How To Get Around in Bucaramanga

It is faster and cheaper than a car because here motorcycles usually drive between the lanes, so if there is a trancón, they are small enough to get through. Things can definitely get a little hectic here on the local roads!

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

I feel very comfortable on the metrolinea. It is usually full in the afternoons, so I keep my stuff very close to me so I do not take up too much space. A lot of my friends have motos, so I have also ridden on them. Almost everyone who has a moto always has two helmets with them at all times because sharing a ride on one is very common.

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

Because it is warm all the time in Bucaramanga, motos are even more common. It is not like in New York or Virginia, where in the winter, you cannot use a motorcycle because it is too cold or snowy. Colombians are also amazing at sharing, they are very giving and are not possessive over their things. You can see this in the culture of transportation here because people always carpool. When I wait at the bus stop, many taxis and cars stop to ask if I am going to the central or the university because they already have three people in the car going there and have one extra spot. For me, this feels weird sometimes because, in some parts of the U.S., it is seen as dangerous to ride with people you don't know. Due to this, I just use the bus, but it is very common for people who grew up in Bucaramanga.
