How Kids Live in Belize

  • [A.O.]: All houses are cement, and mine is white with a veranda. We have decorations for the holiday. We also have an exercise bike, treadmill and weights on the veranda. I live with my cousins, too. In the back we have a hammock which is nice because of the breeze.
  • [O]: Mine is also cement, but blue. We have a veranda in the front, and I live with my brothers. There is a hammock in the back. That is my favortite part because it's peaceful.
What chores do you have at home?:

Everyone says that they help with cleaning, washing, mopping, sweeping, spreading (making) their beds, cleaning their rooms and dusting shelves. O. likes helping her mom cook rice & beans and spaghetti. They all say they don't like washing up because they don't like touching dirty food. The boys help with cleaning their families' cars.

What jobs do your parents have?:

Here are some of the jobs that parents might have: pre-school teacher, traffic officer, teacher, school administrator, P.E. teacher, chef, mechanic, security and working for the Belize Medical Association.
