Farewell from South Korea

Journal Entry:

February this year, 2023, was the first time I stepped onto South Korea. Now it’s June, and It seems like my semester abroad has come to a close in a blink of an eye. Where did all the time go?

During these four months, I have had the opportunity to experience so many incredible things I never would have thought were possible. There are so many highlights to my trip besides the limited journals I’ve mentioned, like dressing up in nostalgic school uniforms while going to the amusement park, going to multiple university festivals back to back, enjoying the beauty of Korea’s spring with cherry blossoms scattered around the country, and exploring so many more areas in Korea, such as Jeju Island and Nami Island.

More importantly, living in a new country has allowed me to live outside of my comfort zone and challenge myself in a brand new culture and language. It has been extremely fun living independently and learning more about myself while simultaneously meeting new people and figuring it out together.

Just being abroad for such a long period of time has been so surreal. From never having gone outside the country, to starting in a new life here for four months, I feel so accustomed and immersed in the culture here; it would never compare to that of a short term vacation.
