I made my way to the village of San Narciso, located about 30 minutes from the main town in Corozal District, where my host mom's father and family live. There, we celebrated Christmas day with the whole family, eating, laughing and opening presents. We even took turns beating a piñata!
Living in the northernmost town in Belize, I sit right on the Mexican border. This makes it easy to cross over to some of the beautiful Mexican cities like Chetumal and Bacalar. However, I haven't been to the southern part of Belize yet. This year, I plan to visit some friends in Punta Gorda, the town at the southern most part of Belize, bordering the country of Guatemala. The area is know for Garifuna culture and delicious Kriol food!
Thankfully, there are a few people in my host family who have cars, which helped me get around during all of the holiday rain without getting mud on my nice church clothes. However, on sunny days, I always ride around town on my bike.
