Refugees in Jordan and Morocco

Introduction:

Refugee communities in MENA have constantly evolved due to conflict in different areas of the region. In Jordan, conflicts in Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Sudan and Somalia have led to an influx of refugees into different areas of Jordan, and with the country's willingness to host a large number of refugees, Jordan has become a host for refugees from the region. While Morocco does not host as many refugees as Jordan does, Morocco still serves as a host and transit country for refugees seeking asylum from conflict in their home and also those individuals looking to reach Europe. These populations have significantly diversified the makeup of the countries in which they stay, and a lot of these people have become integrated into the local communities.

What community need did I learn about?:

The refugee communities in Jordan and Morocco not only show the diversity of the populations of each country, but also tell stories of the conflict in the region and the responses from the people who live there. In Jordan, the significant refugee population has caused integration into the local communities to the point where a significant number of Jordanians are mixed with other ethnicities. However, there is still a need for support in refugee camps for resources such as medicine, food and proper shelter.
