Hello all! I will be sharing with you the traditions in Jordan, Turkey and Morocco, and how, amongst evacuation, I have experienced many different traditions from these Muslim countries, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. During my time here, I fasted and ate plenty of amazing meals during iftars, visited gorgeous mosques and was mader a part of beautiful familial gatherings.
During Ramadan was when I learned about the Muslim traditions that are practiced widely throughout the Muslim countries. In Jordan and Morocco, many food places and stores are closed until after sunset, which is when iftar (the time to break fast) occurs; and throughout the night everything will be lively, with stores and restaurants being open again. Then, during suhoor, which is when people will stop eating and happens at sunrise, stores will close again. During Ramadan, iftar family gatherings are very common, along with drinking a lot of tea. It is also common to go to the mosque for night prayers called taraweeh, so mosques are usually more frequented during this time as well.
