The Dublin Bus and Luis

Introduction:

Most people get around Ireland by car and bus, and I take the bus. A considerable number of people use the Dublin bus to get around Ireland, because it is accessible, affordable and goes to a lot of places. There are so many routes you can take, as you can tell by looking at the picture of the bus numbers. The one I usually take to get into the city is the 39A bus. It goes to Ongar, a suburban neighborhood, which has few tourist attractions.

How do people get around?:

People utilize their Transportation for Ireland (TFI) card, also known as the "leap" card, to pay for using public transportation. The normal fare for public transportation is $2, but I have a special card that makes it only cost $1 per ride. This card is for students and young adults (ages 18 to 24). Another way people get around the city is by using the Luis (pronounced like "Louis"), which is a tram that goes throughout Dublin city. Most people use this method of transportation when walkways are blocked or if they are too tired to continue walking, like me.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

Back home, I always traveled by car, except when I was at school. I have always enjoyed public transportation, and the public transportation around Ireland is more innovative and accessible than it is in the United States.
