G'day or Good day! My name is Jairo Lazo, and I am a sophomore at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. I study neuroscience, focusing on how we think, move, and feel. In my free time, I enjoy playing video games, exercising, and reading informative books.
I grew up in New York City, surrounded by people from different cultures and backgrounds. Hearing their stories about the beauty of their home countries sparked my interest in traveling. I wanted to see the world and all it has to offer, and thanks to the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, I now have that opportunity!
Currently, I am studying in Melbourne, the second-largest city in Australia. This diverse and multicultural city has so much to offer, including its iconic coffee culture, vibrant graffiti art, and delicious snacks like Tim Tams, which are chocolate biscuits with a creamy filling. Doesn't that sound yummy?
I hope to see kangaroos and koalas up close during my travels, as I have only seen them in books or on TV. Here's a fun fact: Did you know that Australia is the only place in the world where kangaroos live in the wild, and there are over 50 million kangaroos there? Isn't that amazing?
I am thrilled to explore all the fantastic sights, foods, and cultures Australia offers, and I can't wait to share this adventure with you all. There's so much to learn about the world, and I am excited to share every moment with you!
