Right when I hopped off the plane in Ottawa, it finally hit me that my next eight months would be a completely novel experience. Originally, I was a Fulbright-MITACS Scholar at Queen's University, conducting neuroscience research focused on pain. After my time at Queen's came to a close, I finally felt acclimated to living in Canada and navigating the challenges that come with living abroad, such as banking and immigration issues. Funnily enough, right when I felt acclimated to my original setting in Kingston, Ontario, I was moving to Montreal, Quebec!

This is the place from which I've been interacting with all of you all! Living and working in Montreal has been lovely, and even more lovely because I have been privileged to communicate with all of you. Writing about my experiences has helped me better reflect on what I have been up to each week, and sometimes even process some larger life happenings that I hadn't had the time to think over. I hope that my writing has also helped you to reflect on your research, your life as a student and what your future may look like.

Though it might feel transient, take some time to reflect on this semester. I am sure a lot has happened and it's very helpful to identify if you feel good about it.
