Since I’ve arrived in Norway, I’ve learned a lot about Norwegian culture. One of my favorite things about Norwegian culture is how important the environment and the outdoors is to everyday life.
One of the reasons I decided to travel to Norway was because of my similar love of the outdoors. I was very excited to spend time with like-minded people enjoying the beauty and adventure that can be found right in our backyards. In the past few months, I’ve been exposed to a lot of gorgeous Norwegian landscapes and fun activities.
Unfortunately, the environments in Norway, like most other parts of the world, are threatened by development (the creation of new buildings and expansion of cities), misuse and climate change. It makes me very sad to think that the places that bring me so much joy can be in danger. I wanted to help protect these landscapes, so I started volunteering with the local organization Rissa Citizen Science.
Rissa is an awesome organization that gets Tromsø community members involved with different environmental preservation and monitoring work in the area.
