Then olive oil is heated in a skillet to use for sautéeing the shrimp and/or vegetables. The vegetables in my paella were bell peppers, tomatoes, garlic, onion, peas and carrots and are seasoned with salt, pepper, saffron, rosemary and paprika. After the vegetables are sautéed, one adds rice and broth. Then it all simmers together until the rice is fully cooked.
