Hi everyone! My name is Jennifer Garcia, but call me Jenny. I'm 19 years old and I’m from beautiful Paso Robles, California, where all the open land is covered with vineyards. And yes, I’m very close to the beach! I grew up playing with racing cars and dinosaurs because of my two brothers. You’ll usually find me outdoors hiking or on some kind of adventure, but if you can’t find me there, I’ll be snuggling with a good book or watching a really exciting action movie.
There are a couple of reasons why I chose to study abroad. One: I’m always up for an adventure and going outside my comfort zone, which I firmly believe is what helps one grow as a person. Two: I wish to get a job working in different countries, so leaving home for a whole year will let me know if I can handle being away for long periods. And three: I chose to study abroad in Israel specifically because, in my head, Israel is a treasure chest filled with so much rich history.
Scholarships like the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship have made this dream come true for me. And now, here I am studying abroad in Haifa, Israel--the third largest city of Israel! I cannot wait to meet all of you and hear all about your study abroad dreams!
