I have been listening to a playlist that a close friend has made! This playlist has a lot of folk and indie American music. I added additional songs to the playlist including some Latino music. Most young Spaniards I've met listen to American pop music and Latino dance music. Shakira and Maluma are both Latin American artists that are very popular here, especially amongst younger people!
My university paired me up with a Spanish buddy who also attends my school. She guided me throughout the city, and I was able to not only make a new friend but also see so much more of Madrid beyond the neighborhood of my apartment. While I live in the neighborhood of Sol, we explored the neighborhood of Malasaña, which is known to be a more hip and trendy part of the city.
I have been reading a lot of travel articles, as I still haven't seen much of the city. So I've been searching for articles that can help guide me through the best restaurants, museums and shopping districts of the city. They have been incredibly helpful and have introduced me to some hidden gems! I have found the website "Lonely Planet" to be useful.
I haven't played any sports, but I have joined the local gym. I try to go as often as I can to stay in shape. The gym here is just like the gyms I'm used to in the United States. There's a lot of equipment, and I can take group exercise classes such as Pilates.
