Interview with Carla

Introduction:

Read on to learn about how a fourth-grader in the Dominican Republic eats, lives, spends her free time and spends her school time. You will also get to know her interests and thoughts!

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

For breakfast, I drink hot chocolate and eat cornflakes with milk. Sometimes I have bread or crackers with strawberry juice as well. For lunch, I eat rice with scrambled eggs and onions with salami. For dinner, I eat boiled plantains with scrambled eggs and onions.

What is your house like?:

My house is painted yellow on the outside and white on the inside. My house is pretty and has a marquee on the side where my dog plays. In the backyard, we have a cactus and a pineapple bush.

What chores do you have at home?:

I have to wash the dishes, clean my room, read, take out the trash, clean the bathroom, feed the kids my grandma takes care of and turn on cartoons for them. I do not have to cook unless it is the weekend.

What jobs do your parents have?:

My dad lives in the capital and works in a supermarket as a security guard. He has to work in a room with a lot of screens all alone. He has to look at all the cameras. If someone even eats an apple, he can see on the camera and make sure they pay.
