This week I traveled 22 miles away from my city.
The most I have traveled so far is 202 miles from the west of Korea to the east of Korea.
I usually walk around my town because it is so small and it is faster than a bus. I take the school bus in the morning with my students to get to school. To get to the Buddhist temple, I took an intercity bus and a rural bus.
The most interesting place I visited this week was the nature park that the Buddhist temple is located in. If you climb a steep path past the temple, you will find a giant Buddha carved into the rock! The carving is a whopping 15 meters tall. That is longer than a school bus! Many people visit the carving to pay respect and make a wish to Buddha. When I visited, I made a wish but it is a secret!
Last Wednesday was national election day in South Korea so everyone had a day off of school. With my free day, I took a 40 minute bus ride into a city called Jeonju and met up with some other English teacher friends to get brunch and go shopping!
