Hello, my name is Joanne Jean, but a lot of people like calling me Jo Jean or Jo. I am a junior at Florida A&M University studying broadcast journalism and minoring in music industry. This fall I decided to take a leap in my academic career and study not only journalism but also human development and human rights/social issues in the northeast province of Khon Kaen in Thailand.
I've been studying journalism since I was in high school, and have always had an interest in social issues such as women's rights, equality and gun reform. I want to make a difference not only in my own community but in the nation and (hopefully) the world. I'd like to use my media degree to educate and change others' perceptions on subjects such as equality.
When I'm not being a full-time student, I am writing/making music. I've been a musician my whole life and currently enjoy playing the guitar and singing. This year, I released my own music for the first time. Music and the arts are one of my passions, so I use this as a form of relaxation and expression when I have downtime from school.
Thanks for joining me on my journey this year... let's go!
