Thank you so much for letting me be part of your learning journey this year! I loved meeting you all and getting to share my stories from Taiwan.
Although this is the end of my time spent with your class, my time in Taiwan hasn’t run out quite yet. At the end of June, I will return to Colorado to spend the summer with my friends and family. In August, I will be moving to Alabama to start a two-year Master of Science degree in Rural Sociology at Auburn University. I am very excited to start yet another new journey in a new place. Each time I move somewhere new, I learn more about myself and the world. I encourage you to look for those opportunities as you get older.
One of my favorite quotes is from the song “Colors of the Wind” from the Disney Movie Pocahontas. The quote goes like “But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger, you'll learn things you never knew, you never knew.” This quote means that there is so much out there for us to learn, but if we never step out of our comfort zone and out of our own perspectives, we will never realize all of the things we didn’t even know existed out there for us!
Stepping outside of your comfort zone is scary, I won’t lie.
