What It's Like Being a Seventh Grader in Taipei

Introduction:

Rather than get insight from only one kid living in Taiwan, I picked one of my seventh-grade classes and got their answers to some important questions about what their daily lives are like living here!

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

The most common answers for breakfast foods was bread and milk or a sandwich. Something I have noticed is that Taiwan does not have a lot of the breakfast foods common in the United States. The thing I miss the most is blueberry pancakes!

A lot of my students eat lunch from school, which is the same as the lunch that I get as a teacher!

A common dinner is called a bento box or lunch box (even though it is for dinner). It has rice, some sort of vegetable, and some sort of meat. Sometimes it will also have a hard-boiled egg.

What is your house like?:

All of my students live in apartments here in the big city of Taipei. They live with their parents, their siblings if they have them, and sometimes their grandparents. One thing that is unique about houses and apartments here in Taiwan is they have a designated entryway to remove your shoes. Never wear your shoes into someone’s home in East Asia!

What chores do you have at home?:

The chores my students do are often sweep and take out the trash.
