Sawatdee krupp! (Hello!) My name is Julian, and right now I live and work in a city called Khon Kaen (pronounced “con kehn”) in Northeast Thailand. I teach English to college students at Khon Kaen University. Before I tell you all about my journey and what led me here, I’ll let you in on a bit of background about who I am. I’m 24 years old and I grew up in Seattle, Washington in the Pacific Northwest. I have one older brother named Kellen and a few very close friends. After graduating from high school, I attended the University of Washington, also in Seattle, where I majored in English Language and Literature. This means that I got to do my very favorite thing throughout college: read piles and piles of amazing books and poetry.

After spending a year learning the Italian language in college, I got the chance to study poetry in Rome, Italy, the location where one of my favorite poets, John Keats, wrote some of his most beautiful poems nearly 200 years ago. While traveling, I also learned about culture and the ways that people in every corner of the world do things.
