It is a very spicy Thai soup, tasting both hot and sour, with noodles, seafood and a soft-boiled egg. When the server set the bowl down in front of me, my mouth started watering immediately! I expected the juicy shrimp to be my favorite ingredient, but the spicy lemongrass broth was the part I enjoyed most. My friend and I stayed to finish every last slurp of the broth. I think I'll return to that restaurant soon.

What music did I listen to this week?:

One of my very favorite things to do is to go to concerts. Khon Kaen is home to a lot of reggae music, so this weekend, I watched a 10-piece Thai band play their versions of old Bob Marley songs. The concert was full of love and happiness.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

On Saturday, I was able to visit my favorite temple in Khon Kaen. It is called Wat Nong Waeng. It's a beautifully ornate nine-story-high temple, with stairs leading from the bottom floor all the way to the top. Each floor has a small collection of artifacts, like a museum, showcasing the history and culture of Khon Kaen and the religion of Buddhism. When we got to the top floor of the temple, we were able to see the entire city!

What did I read this week?:

One of the things that I brought with me to Thailand is my Kindle. E-readers are the perfect travel companion. I can buy and read books on it without having to bring hundreds of paperback novels, which saves me plenty of space in my backpack. Even though I brought my Kindle to replace my books, I still made sure that I packed my copy of a long Calvin and Hobbes collection. I've been reading and re-reading these Calvin and Hobbes books for years. They never get old!
