They make fantastic kanaa mu grob, which is kale (kanaa) with crispy (grob) pork (mu).
Sometimes when I teach, I play music quietly in the classroom. I found a cool artist named Flamingosis, whose music is good to study to. I've also been playing some of my favorite bands on Spotify, an online music service, like Pixies and Nirvana.
I hosted a small barbeque with my friends on my birthday, but we forgot to buy food to grill! So we went out to eat at our favorite restaurant. We stuffed our faces with larb, tom kha gai (coconut soup) and pad pak (stir fried veggies).
Lately, I've been reading and grading the first drafts of my students' storybooks, written to help Thai first graders learn English in addition to helping my students practice their English writing skills. They are cute stories about things like animals, wizards and witches. After they finish their final drafts, we will deliver them to elementary schools around the city so they can be kept in their classroom libraries. Is there any way you can help younger students learn?
Nearly every evening, I play a card game called gin rummy with my friends. We started playing a few weeks ago, and I have since learned how to say all the necessary phrases in Thai, so the game is played entirely in the Thai language, even though it was invented in the United States. Playing games is a great way to learn bits and pieces of a foreign language.
