It is very sad to think about wildlife getting hurt, but thankfully, Tasmania also has a great team of people who help these injured animals. One of these organizations is called “Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary”.
Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary has a team of “wildlife rescuers”. If you are in Tasmania, and you see an injured animal, you can call Bonorong, and they will send a wildlife rescuer to come help the animal. The wildlife rescuers drive all over the state to help animals--sometimes, they need to drive 10 hours! It is important to people in Tasmania that the wildlife is protected, respected and cared for. Everyone knows what to do when they see an injured wallaby or padymelon!
Tasmania is full of animals with a pouch, such as kangaroos, wallabies and echidnas. These animals store their babies in their pouch to keep them safe.
