Hello! My name is Julienne Niemyski, but you can call me Julie. If you've already read my Traveler's Biography, you'll know that I am from Miami and didn't do much traveling beyond Florida until I reached my college years. And now that we're all still in this pandemic, I haven't really left the house in months! I'm currently staying with family in Hampton, New Hampshire, and this is where I will be writing all of my posts as we go through this journey together.
Growing up in a highly cultural city, I was able to experience a lot of diversity that is probably not seen in most of the United States. During my high school years, I went to a performing arts high school and was even more extensively immersed in the cultural diversity that Miami had to offer. Although I no longer continue dancing, my high school experience definitely made me think about pushing myself to travel and study in places that are far away from where I grew up. In my senior year, I applied for and received the Posse Foundation Scholarship to go to Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. I was thrilled to go to a school in the Northeast, where I could finally experience seasons as opposed to the year-round hot and humid climate that I was used to back home.
