Colombian Cuisine

How is the food prepared?:

The fruit-based foods have the fortune of being already almost prepared naturally! People just wash the fruit and cut. Fruits are also often peeled, cut and put in a bag with salt and lime. Colombian hot chocolate involves heating milk and adding bars of chocolate. Once the chocolate is melted, you add the cheese and let it melt a bit as well before taking a sip, and a bite!

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

Food in Colombia is definitely a testament to its biodiversity. Colombia is considered the second most biodiverse country in the world! Biodiversity refers to the variety of plant and animal life in a given habitat. There is such a variety of fruits here because they thrive in the tropical environment. I always find myself eating an amazingly diverse fruit salad here then imagining what other natural wonders Colombia has to offer. It makes me want to see it all! But for now, I guess una ensalada de frutas (a fruit salad) with fruits that are completely new to me is a good start.
