The rainy season is definitely in full swing now! Almost every day we have little periods of rain. Fortunately, this has meant some cooler temperatures during and a bit after the rain. Still, for the most part, we’ve had our usual sunny days with temperatures in the high 70s and 80s.
I recently saw my first capybaras! Capybaras are the large species of rodent in the world, but they don't live in the United States. I also saw a cute iguana one day on campus. Seeing an iguana is always special to me because we certainly don’t have them on my campus back home.
Last weekend, I did a very intense hike up a mountain called Pico de Loro (Parrots Peak). It was unlike anything I have ever seen or done before. The hike was not just walking up a mountain like the hikes I’ve done in North Carolina. This one literally involved grappling and climbing and holding on to tree vines for dear life!
