I stayed in Cali all week and the farthest I traveled was to the center of the city from the south where I live. It was about an hour on the bus because of traffic but only about seven miles away from where I live.
Since last Logbook, I’ve traveled to another department of Colombia: Quindío. It was about three hours by bus. In total, I have probably traveled around 3,000 miles on this trip.
This week, I started getting around on bike! I also used the MIO bus a few times. I walked a lot, too.
The most interesting place I visited this week was Bulevar del Río (Boulevard of the River). It’s a place where a tunnel was constructed to move traffic underground and open a space above for citizens to enjoy the city. There is also a beautiful and iconic church here called La Ermita. I love how the city was transformed by this smart engineering feat and how traffic works here in order to provide more space for people to do things in the city. There is indeed a river here, like the name suggests, it was really pretty. The streets are illuminated with beautiful lights and there are street vendors and performers everywhere.
