After finishing up my adventures in the Outback and Alice Springs, I made my way towards Townsville. It is a city on the coast of Australia that is very close to Magnetic Island. I had a lot of fun exploring this area. I had to take a ferry from Townsville to get to Magnetic Island, but it only took about twenty minutes. A ferry is a type of boat that is used for transporting passengers, and sometimes even cars! I thought that taking the ferry to Magnetic Island was a great way to travel there. Have you ever taken the Staten Island Ferry that's near you? What did you think?
Once I arrived in Magnetic Island, I got the chance to cuddle a koala, hold some lizards, feed some lorikeets and even handle a python! Would you ever want to hang out with those animals? I loved that I was able to spend a little bit of time with the koalas. Since they sleep for 22 hours every day, I was able to get lots of pictures of them snoozing. They look like little, sleepy teddy bears. Super cute.
When I finished exploring Magnetic Island and Townsville, I went off to Tasmania. Tasmania is an island-state off the southern coast of Australia. It is close enough to Melbourne that you can take a ferry, but I decided to fly there because it was much faster.
