The Relationship Between Malaysian People and Their Environment

Introduction:

Malaysia has a mega-diverse environment and a unique climate. In this field note, I will show you the relationship between Malaysian people and their environment.

What makes this environment special or different?:

Malaysia’s closeness to the world’s equator provides the country with a tropical rainforest climate. Throughout the entire year, the country can be described as having two basic types of weather: it’s either really hot or raining. This makes for a rather humid climate most times. During monsoon season, the rain here is very, very heavy. Malaysia also has a diversity of landscapes and wildlife throughout the country, with over half of the land area of the country being tropical rainforests.

What parts of this environment help people to live here?:

The environment of Malaysia benefits its residents agriculturally. The climate in Malaysia is particularly suitable for the growth and production of exotic and desirable produce. This includes millions of tons of rice produced in Malaysia annually. Because of the agricultural richness of the country, a significant portion of residents gains employment through farming and the food industry.
