I went grocery shopping at the big farmer's market in my neighborhood, called Marché Jean Talon. Spending time there is one of my favorite things to do! I love talking to the farmers about their harvest.
Lately I've been reading about Latin America to prepare for when I go there next March. This week I read an issue of the magazine Jacobin called By Taking Power, which is all about the "pink tide". The pink tide is the shift toward more progressive governments in Latin America in the 1990s and early 2000s.
I played some Dungeons and Dragons! It's a game where everyone makes a character, and together, as the characters, you go on all sorts of quests and adventures, working towards a common goal. Have you ever seen Stranger Things? It's the game Mike, Will, Lucas and Dustin play!
This week I went to the Y.M.C.A. and signed up for a Portuguese class! The official language of Uruguay is Spanish, but the northern part of the country borders Brazil, where they speak Portuguese. As a result, there's a lot of Portuguese spoken in Uruguay as well, so I'm hoping to start a class next week to be able to have some multilingual conversations when I'm there!
