The changing temperatures and weather patterns meant a smaller harvest this year, and a later picking season, which means the apples see more cold weather. Another danger is the frost in the springtime. If the apple trees blossom and then a late frost comes, with night temperatures below freezing, there won't be an apple crop that year!
